A clear, human-centered problem statement or point of view (often phrased as a "How might we...?" question) synthesized from what was learned while empathizing.

Judging too early narrows options; divergent thinking first produces many ideas, then convergent thinking selects the most promising.

A UK Design Council model with two diverge-converge phases: Discover and Define (finding the right problem), then Develop and Deliver (finding the right solution).

The smallest version of a product that lets a team test its riskiest assumptions with real users and learn with the least effort, per Eric Ries's build-measure-learn loop.

That an MVP is a buggy, half-built first release. It should be a thin but usable and valuable slice across the experience, sized to test a hypothesis.
