Working with Lakeflow Jobs

Creating input parameter widgets in a notebook so it can be parameterized and reused, e.g., for jobs.

With dbutils.widgets.get("widget_name"), which returns the widget's current value as a string.

It runs another notebook as a separate ephemeral job within a job/notebook, passing parameters and returning a value, with its own variable scope.

It stops the current notebook and returns a string value to the caller (e.g., the parent notebook that invoked it via dbutils.notebook.run).

Yes — a notebook can be scheduled directly as a job to run on a recurring schedule or trigger.

Create the widget, then reference it in SQL as :param_name or via the getArgument/widget value, e.g., SELECT * FROM t WHERE country = :country.
