An order to buy or sell immediately at the best available current price; it guarantees execution but not price.

An order to buy at a specified price or lower; it executes only at the limit price or better (lower).

An order to sell at a specified price or higher; it executes only at the limit price or better (higher).

The order may never be executed (or only partially) if the market never reaches the limit price.

An order placed above the current market that becomes a market order to buy once the stock trades at or through the stop price.
