A separate geographic area containing multiple, isolated Availability Zones. Regions are independent for fault tolerance and data residency; you choose Regions based on latency, compliance, service availability, and pricing.

One or more discrete data centers within a Region, each with redundant power, networking, and connectivity, physically separated to be fault-isolated. Spreading resources across AZs increases availability.

Edge locations are AWS sites used to cache content close to users. Amazon CloudFront is the content delivery network (CDN) that uses edge locations to deliver content with low latency.

Elastic Compute Cloud provides resizable virtual servers (instances) in the cloud. You control the OS and configuration; it is the core IaaS compute service with multiple instance families.

Instances are grouped into families optimized for different workloads: general purpose, compute optimized, memory optimized, storage optimized, and accelerated computing (GPU).

A serverless compute service that runs code in response to events without provisioning or managing servers. You pay only for compute time consumed, billed per millisecond.
