General Knowledge

Safety is the most important reason. A pre-trip inspection finds problems that could cause a breakdown or crash, protecting the driver, other road users, and avoiding costly delays.

Three: the pre-trip inspection (before driving), en-route inspections (during the trip), and the post-trip inspection (after driving).

Before the vehicle is driven, at the start of the workday or trip, to ensure the vehicle is safe to operate before it moves.

To check critical items like tires, brakes, cargo, and gauges while driving, so developing problems are caught before they cause a breakdown or crash.

Throughout the trip: watch gauges for trouble signs, use your senses for problems, and check critical items at each stop.

To identify problems that developed during the trip so they can be reported and repaired before the vehicle is used again.
