Band Descriptors & Scoring

Bands 0 to 9, reported in whole and half steps (0.5 increments).

It is the mean (average) of the four skill bands (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking), then rounded to the nearest half band.

Four: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking, each scored on the 0-9 band scale.

Expert user: full operational command of English; fluent, accurate, and complete understanding.

Very good user: fully operational command with only occasional unsystematic inaccuracies; handles complex argument well.
