IELTS Writing

Two tasks completed in 60 minutes total: Task 1 (at least 150 words, about 20 minutes) and Task 2 (at least 250 words, about 40 minutes).

Task 1 requires at least 150 words; Task 2 requires at least 250 words. Writing below the minimum is penalized.

Task 2 is weighted double (worth roughly two-thirds of the Writing score), so you should leave more time and effort for it than for Task 1.

About 20 minutes for Task 1 and 40 minutes for Task 2, because Task 2 is longer and weighted double.
