IELTS Listening

4 parts with 40 questions total — 10 questions per part, 1 mark each. There is no negative marking.

About 30 minutes of audio plus 10 minutes to transfer answers to the answer sheet (on the paper-based test). The audio is played only once.

Only once. There are no repeats, so you must answer as you listen and cannot rely on hearing the recording again.

Each correct answer earns 1 mark; the raw score out of 40 is converted to a band score from 0 to 9 in half-band increments. Wrong answers are not penalised.

Difficulty generally increases from Part 1 to Part 4, moving from everyday social contexts to academic ones, and from two speakers to a single academic lecturer.
