A4: Suspension & Steering

It converts the rotary motion of the steering wheel into linear (side-to-side) motion of the rack to turn the front wheels.

Ball bearings recirculate in the threads, reducing friction between the worm shaft and the ball nut.

The ball nut (rack portion) has teeth that mesh with the sector shaft, which rotates the pitman arm.

It transfers the rotary output of the steering gearbox to the steering linkage, moving the center (drag/relay) link.

It supports the passenger-side end of the center link and pivots so the link stays parallel to the steering gear's pitman arm.
